New Leaf 5 year Anniversary

Our Studio is a Warrior for Peace

As a Warrior for Peace, our studio donates regularly to support New Leaf Yoga Foundation’s yoga programs with youth at-risk. We commit to creating peacefulness within the walls of our studio, in our own lives & beyond. We commit to standing with others who have been marginalized, & to finding ways to foster inclusiveness by reaching out to people not currently accessing yoga.

New Leaf offers yoga in places that are the least served: communities facing socio-economic issues, isolation & violence, as well as facilities serving youth who have come into conflict with the law. New Leaf’s goal is to make yoga available & relevant to youth who are facing some of the greatest challenges so that they might find peace inside themselves & that peacefulness can shine in our community.

Supporting Peace in our Community

Warriors for Peace is an initiative cultivating peace in our community and supporting the work of New leaf Yoga Foundation. New Leaf is unique in that they offer yoga in places that so far have been the least served: communities struggling with socio-economic issues, isolation & violence, and facilities serving youth who have come into conflict with the law.

New Leaf creates programs that are sustainable for the long-term, providing on- going training and regular support to their teachers and cultivating close relationships with community leaders and staff at our project sites so that support, learning and understanding comes from many angles.

New Leaf focuses on impact and deepening what they offer rather than placing emphasis simply on the number of projects they run. Their goal is to make yoga available, accessible and relevant to youth who are struggling most so that they might find peace inside themselves and so that we might see that peacefulness shine in our communities.

New Leaf now offers more than 65 classes each month. They recently launched a one-on-one youth mentoring program where young men and women from their programs can be partnered with leaders in the yoga community to receive continued support both in their yoga practice and in their lives. This is a huge step towards fostering longer- term support for youth – a gap that is often sited in grassroots programs.
