Remembering the pulsation
A reflection from the heart of North America: After missing our flight to Calgary, Chantal and I sit in a corner of the Winnipeg airport stuck waiting for the next flight out of the heart of the continent. It is hard to see the beauty in the grey carpets, stale air, tired faces and plastic wrapped food, but if I rewind time by just two hours I remember being in a place of bliss and gratitude for the past 10 days of study with the founder of Anusara Yoga, John Friend.
John is a brilliant teacher that reminds us that at our very essence we are full of peace, radiating joy, unbound in possibility, totally awake, good beyond words and connected to everything. This energy that pulses in you also pulses in everyone you know and everyone you don’t know and everything you can imagine and everything you cannot imagine.
This spirit within us often gets cloaked which causes us to forget our very nature and we lose sight of being part of something so much greater. Life then becomes of a game rediscovering our essence and the beautiful ways that we are all connected.
Slightly annoyed that our plane had left early without us and frustrated to be missing dinner with her family, Chantal went to explore the Winnipeg airport. Upon her return there wasn’t much to report except that under the signs for the Winnipeg International Airport it read “Spirited Energy”. Perhaps the sign was a gentle reminder to look for the beauty and the blessings in everything? Even lessons can be blessings, perhaps our relaxed attitude about getting to the plane on time wouldn’t serve us in the future and perhaps this relatively painful lesson could save our lives in the future. At the very least Chantal and I had an extra couple hours to share, assimilate and delight in the blessings that we have received in Winnipeg. Our little corner in the airport was full of natural light and the vibration of the airport shifted a little as we read a magazine together and ate salty airport snacks.
At the end of the day we have a choice: we can play the game and look for the goodness in all things, we can transform negative energy into positive energy, we can align ourselves in a way to better experience this spirit, we can serve, honour and affirm our connection to everything and enjoy being embodied in this moment … or not. The coolest thing is that we have the freedom to choose. We are not victims of life, we are invited to play the game. How will you RSVP?
