RUNNING TUNE-UP
with Aarti Rana

Easy running is the difference between working hard and working smart. It requires learning to run with your whole body, because when you distribute muscular effort throughout yourself, you can run more efficiently, conserve energy, and keep running for a longer period of time.

In this workshop, you'll learn to "tune-up" your running by becoming aware of your habits of movement. Imagine a gentle anatomy lesson that provides your body with the biomechanical knowledge it needs to move well.

Beginner and advanced runners are welcome. Lessons are gentle and foundational, and can suit your individual goals of improving technique or endurance, recovering from injury, or simply feeling a deeper sense of ease while running.

Running Tune-Up

Aarti teaches Awareness Through Movement lessons in Toronto and is a Feldenkrais Practitioner.  She describes what she does as "brain hacking", saying that she "helps people tune up their bodies by using sensation and attention to alter their habitual patterns of movement."  She works with anyone and everyone who wants to move more freely, precisely, and easily--from artists, to high-level athletes, to people with serious injuries.  Her workshops integrate her advanced knowledge of neuroplasticity and the science and arts of embodiment.

SACRED JUSTICE: YOGA AND SOLIDARITY
with Andi Macdonald & Kandace Dragonfly

This workshop will illuminate the connections between solidarity work and yoga. With meditation, asana and group discussion we'll explore dynamics of power and privilege and how these affect the ways we relate to each other and build community. So often we hear the phrase, "we're all one", but what does this really mean? How can we come to a grounded understanding of interconnection without glossing over the real differences in our lived experiences and political realities? Perhaps we can use the concepts of community support and solidarity as tools to acknowledge the fundamental sense of union that our yoga practice teaches us to explore and honour. All levels of experience with yoga and social justice activism are welcome.
